The Pacers Game and Glee Club’s Busy Weekend
by Jeremy Chance
I’m sitting on the bus on the way to Zionsville to begin our busy Glee Club weekend. We have three shows this weekend around the state, so it’s definitely going to be a busy couple of days.
We started the busy Glee Club days in style though. This past Wednesday we sang the National Anthem at the Indiana Pacers game. The best part about it? They were hosting the LA Lakers. As we were lined up on the sideline waiting to sing, the teams were warming up. Yes, I was in fact about 30 feet from Kobe Bryant. It was pretty sweet. We were in line-up, so I couldn’t move, but I really wanted to take my phone out and take a picture. It was pretty cool!!
We sang the Anthem and people seemed to really enjoy it. We got a few compliments from people walking around, so it was pretty cool. AND we actually got to stay for the game! When we sang the Anthem at the Colts/Patriots game two years ago, they didn’t let us stay. The Pacers were kind enough to give us tickets for the game. Granted, it was college night and the tickets were only $10 AND up in the nosebleed section, but it was still an awesome experience!
Now we’re in Zionsville to do a split show with Purduettes. it should be cool. I think they’re really a lot more talented than people give them credit for, so I’m hoping we actually get a chance to watch them perform. It should be a really fun show! I don’t think Voiceovers is performing tonight, which kind of sucks because we have a new song ready to go. It’s okay though, we have two other shows this weekend.
Saturday we’re doing a show in downtown Lafayette at St. Mary’s church. It’s nice, for one, because it’s actually a show in town, so hopefully friends on campus will want to and be able to come. Plus, this show is some kind of benefit for Haiti. This particular show has always been an event to support Haiti, but in light of recent events, I think this show more than ever will be beneficial on a number of different levels. It’s going to be an emotional show too, and those are always fun.
Then on Sunday we’re driving up to Goshen for a matinee show. That will be a fun show too.
This weekend is going to be a busy one, but we love it. That’s why we’re in these groups: to perform. And that’s exactly what we will be doing this weekend…a lot!!
Hopefully more posts will come this weekend!! Take care!!
